Abstract
In recent years, vocational and technical secondary school education is in a worrying decline in Turkey. This situation makes almost impossible to educate well qualified graduates, technicians to labor market and affects vocational higher schools and engineering education negatively. For the destiny of our country, it is of vital importance to get the technical and vocational education to a required level by determining the reasons of the decline correctly and then taking the necessary precautions urgently. In this paper, the reasons of this decline are discussed and a proposal for the restructuring of the secondary and vocational higher schools is given. The effect of the proposed structure on engineering education is argued.
