About the Journal
Education and Science is an international, peer-reviewed, and open-access journal published by the Turkish Education Association (TED). Established in 1976, the journal has been published continuously since its inception. As a non-profit and non-governmental organization serving the public interest, TED aims to contribute to the education system in Turkey and globally through high-quality scientific publications in line with its mission of social responsibility in education.
Education and Science seeks to support original research in the field of educational sciences and to contribute to the accumulation of scientific knowledge in this area. The journal prioritizes studies offering concrete solutions to classroom- and school-based challenges encountered across all levels of education, from early childhood to higher education. It encourages research that bridges theory and practice in areas such as teacher education, educational policy, curriculum studies, and school ecosystems.
Aim & Scope
The primary aim of Education and Science is to publish original, scientific, and practice-oriented research that contributes to the advancement of educational systems both in Turkey and internationally. In addition to supporting the generation of theoretical knowledge in education, the journal focuses on strengthening the link between theory and practice by publishing studies that directly impact school- and classroom-level applications.
The journal’s scope includes, but is not limited to, the following types of research:
- Studies that support teacher professionalism and contribute to teachers’ professional development,
- Original research focused on classroom and school practices,
- Theoretical and empirical studies offering holistic perspectives on the school ecosystem,
- Analyses of current and local educational issues in Turkey, incorporating both national and international comparisons,
- Research aimed at improving instructional processes at the preschool, primary, middle, and secondary education levels,
- Studies examining innovative teacher education models and aiming to enhance the quality of teacher candidates,
- Large-scale research employing meta-analysis, content analysis, or profile analysis methods,
- Original, practice-based studies on the integration of technology into education,
- Research that not only develops and validates educational measurement tools but also evaluates their applicability in educational contexts,
- Multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary studies that propose new theoretical models related to education.
Out-of-Scope Submissions and Limitations
Submissions with the following characteristics fall outside the scope of Education and Science and are not considered for review:
- Studies in which the sample consists solely of pre-service teachers or university students (exceptions apply only to studies that offer innovative contributions to teacher education and are directly related to teaching practices, with the study’s content and implementation being explicitly aligned with the specific teacher education program of the participants),
- Studies focused solely on the development and validation of scales without an application component,
- Research limited in scope and focused on a single course, method, or a small number of variables, with substantial similarities to existing studies in the literature,
- Descriptive studies in the field of Computer and Instructional Technologies Education (CITE) that focus on constructs such as attitude, awareness, acceptance, or self-confidence, and lack classroom implementation,
- Theses-derived studies that fail to include the main hypotheses and key findings of the dissertation and instead present only a partial component (e.g., a measurement tool, program, or activity),
- Studies based on meta-analyses, content analyses, or profile analyses conducted with small samples,
- Theoretical studies in methodology, measurement theory, or statistics that do not directly support educational research,
- Research that investigates university students’ attitudes, perceptions, or behaviors toward a specific course,
- Descriptive studies relying solely on demographic or categorical variables (e.g., gender, grade level, type of school, field of study), using information collected through data forms and lacking in-depth analysis,
- Evaluations of specific courses or programs based only on student or teacher opinions,
- Textbook reviews, literature reviews, or book analyses,
- Studies pertaining to non-educational disciplines (e.g., nursing education, engineering education).
Education and Science prioritizes originality, the potential for tangible contributions to the educational system, and the integration of theory and practice in its publication criteria. The journal does not accept studies that merely reproduce existing academic knowledge without offering novel insights.
Publication Frequency
Education and Science is a quarterly journal, with issues published in January, April, July, and October.
Publication Language
Education and Science is published in two languages, English and Turkish. Authors may submit their manuscripts in either Turkish or English. However, for accepted manuscripts, authors are required to prepare full texts in both English and Turkish. This approach aims to enhance the journal’s accessibility to both national and international academic communities and to ensure that scientific knowledge reaches a wider audience.
