Abstract
The aim of this research study was to determine the perspectives of elementary school teachers on the instructional methods used in Mathematics classes. Open-ended interviewswere utilized to collect the data. Content analysis was used to analyze the data. Participantswere thirty-four elementary school teachers working in public schools in an inner city inTurkey. Results showed that “Question-Answer”, “Problem Solving”, “Direct Instruction”are the most commonly used methods in Mathematics classes by the participants. Whenselecting a teaching method to use, the participants look for “enabling permanent learning”the most.
